EDEC 262: Class Assignments

Media & Technology in Education (EDEC 262) aims to offer student-teachers (STs) opportunities to enhance their digital media literacies. Digital media literacy is the ability to access, analyze, evaluate, create, and act with all forms of communication.

Through the integration of the Quebec Education Program (QEP) and concepts such as SAMR and Bloom's Taxonomy, the student-teachers learn and find new technologies, ways to use them, and how they may integrate them into future classrooms

Digital Media Production

A way for students to interact with novels and literature while also using their social media skills. To help the students develop better understandings about characters and motivations they each take on the persona of a character within the novel or work, and make a minimum of six posts, all from the perspective of said character, in which they reflect on certain plot points or interactions or even random moments. Students can interact with each other on tumblr, or simply hand in completed work

Self Directed Learning Project

A teacher interactive review for To Kill a Mockingbird that is coded by me, with questions designed to bring discussion to the classroom and ensure students understand points and themes of the novel. The review is projected by the teacher and the class works in groups, ultimately providing a rounded review

Lesson Plan

This lesson plan focuses on a unit within Poetry of a Secondary English ELA class, It works specifically with Spoken Word Poetry, introducing students to the concept, giving examples, having them do some research, ultimately having the students make their own spoken poetry project.
